Antique 1840 Felix Pollinger Portrait Oil Painting Young Woman Period Gold Frame
Stunning mid 19th century (c1840s) original portrait oil painting depicting a beautiful young woman with bottle curls looking slightly away. Very well done with impressive technical skill and great capture of light, depth and emotion. Boasts pleasing soft brushstrokes as well as fine detailing. The German inscription and date of the painting also fit the period of Pollinger. Medium is oil on period canvas done in an almost Realist style.
Painting housed in what appears to be its original mid 19th century period fold gilded gesso and wood frame and is ready to hang. Exhibits cracking in areas which is typical of a piece with this much age. No holes, rips, tears or indents.
Gentlest ripple to top left and right corners (see photos). Frame in Acceptable condition with heavy wear and chipping to the gesso as well as some cracking and soiling. The frame itself is quite rare and compliments this painting very nicely.Painting measures 23" x 18 1/2". Frame measures 29 1/2" x 24 1/2".
