ANTIQUE DUTCH OLD MASTER ORIGINAL OIL PAINTING on CANVAS Interior Scene 18th

Offered for your consideration today is this striking antique Dutch old master original oil painting on canvas depicting two figures in an interior scene -- an older gentleman smoking a pipe with a smaller person/child on his knee drinking from a tankard. As you can see, the room is dimly lit, but warm and intimate, accented with lovely textiles.

The artwork, which measures approximately 12 3/4" by 15 1/4" (14 3/4" by 17 1/4" as framed), is unsigned, but obviously painted by a skilled hand. Judging from the appearance of the canvas/wooden stretcher/pegs, I'm guessing it dates to the late 18th century.

As one might expect, given the age of the painting, the canvas does have a few condition issues, including 4 small tears/abrasions and a darkening of the varnish (compare the flash photos to those taken in natural light). I'm assuming you could have the canvas cleaned if you like, but I think it presents well as is, and would make a handsome addition to your home or office.
