Charming composition representing Saint Cecilia of Rome at her organ accompanied by cherubs. A northern school, Flemish from the end of the 17th century to the beginning of the 18th century in oil on a beautiful mesh oak panel. The saint hears and plays the music of god while seated at her organ. She raises her eyes towards a luminous halo from which fly two seraphim symbolizing the holy spirit. An angel pulling on a rope is at the side of the saint.

The organ and the armchair are sumptuous in the baroque spirit. A score book and a lute on the floor remind us that Saint Cecilia of Rome is the patron saint of musicians and sacred music. A charming composition around the saint. Vers beautiful freshness of colors and attention to detail in this beautiful panel.

No repaints but the satin varnish was redone not very long ago. A work from the end of the 17th century dedicated to the patroness of music.
