Antique portrait oil painting victorian lady attributed to Jacob Eichholtz Frame

Antique framed portrait oil painting victorian lady 19th century original. Housed in the original gilt wood frame. In Frame: approximately 37x23x3 inches.

Canvas (within frame): approximately 24x29x1 inches. On the back of the canvas, although hard to make out, it is stenciled:'Sam Scarlett' and'Philadelphia'. Jacob Eichholtz lived in Philadelphia until 1832 and before that time, exhibited with the Society of Artists at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. Born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania in a family of prosperous Pennsylvania Germans, he spent most of his professional life in Philadelphia. A coppersmith by trade, he turned to painting and achieved both recognition and success despite being mainly self-taught as an artist. He is known to have painted over 800 portraits over the course of 35 years. Hundreds of his works are housed in art museums, historical societies, and private collections throughout the United States.

Flaws and specific details to take note of and examine in photos. There are two small indentations on the canvas around the middle where paint loss is present. There is a small spot under the hand of the subject where painting is missing.

Canvas is slightly loose within frame, but should be easy to fix. There are several cracks in the frame and wear also. This is a beautiful piece of history that still contains some mystery as the subject is unknown. Please see photos for specific details of condition. Feel free to make an offer.
