This is a gorgeous antique oil on canvas White Mountain School (New Hampshire) painting depicting an early spring lake scene in the foreground with a lovely range of mountains far in the background - in the foreground, the viewer sees a small waterfall coming from a large lake which has a placid blue-gray surface - on either side of the waterfall are pine trees to the right & multiple other types of trees to the left some of which are beginning to show their early spring colors while other trees & bushes still maintain their fall & winter yellow-red colors. Off in the distance across the lake is a range of mountains, the tallest of which seems to still have a small patch of snow on its peak which is a sight often seen in New England in early spring - the mountains are somewhat shrouded in mist & fine clouds which are floating in the pale blue sky beyond - the very talented artist who signed the painting in the lower left corner as "Parker" created a wonderfully tranquil & serene landscape with this antique painting - it is well-balanced & beautifully colored. The painting measures 22" x 14" sight size, & is in very good restored antique condition where it's old dark brown & gritty original varnish has been professionally cleaned by a listed artist to rid it of its old dirty & smoke infused varnish to bring out the colors that the artist intended for the public to see - thereafter, it was re-varnished to protect the painted surface for the next century of viewers - the painting comes with its original gilded gesso on wood frame which has a lovely floral pattern - the frame measures 27" x 19" & is in good antique condition but for a small chunk of frame wood on the bottom back of the frame which has fallen off (this does not compromise the integrity of the frame) - the last photo shows this with the frame upside down.
