This painting is absolutely stunning despite it having signs of age and nicks in areas all around the carved wooden gold gilt frame (I think it's a frame made with a gold gilding technique, it's beautiful). The story behind this painting is an ambassador of Ecuador's wife was gifted this during a trip of theirs.
The artists name is Othello Pardini although it is difficult to read his signature located at the bottom right corner of this piece. The inner part of the frame has a beautiful velvet border. I wanna say the velvet is a very dark maroon but it could be a brown(I don't know for sure see photos). I think the velvet is a little rough to the touch probably from it's age and has what appears to be some scuffing. I tried to clean this without harsh chemicals using baking soda and aluminum foil if I recall in the past but I didn't clean it too much because the dark areas dust?
Give it it's vintage character and I don't want to risk any of the gold gilt coming off as it has in some areas already. I was simply trying to clean off the dark areas. The painting itself seen in the frame measures 18 7/8" wide and 15" in height. The gold gilt shimmers and looks so gorgeous, this would make such a nice conversational piece. Note: The little steel loop on the back and nail hook to hang it on the wall is probably almost 70 years old and a new hook or loop should be installed as it is a thick, heavy wooden framed painting.Hanging it would be at the buyers own risk if it fa.
